Taste Experience
Taste Experience
This oil offers a unique flavor experience. You first taste the smooth olive oil, followed by the warm, aromatic notes of herbs and spices. A gentle spiciness adds a brief kick before the rich olive oil flavor comes through fully. The taste lingers nicely in your mouth, and the intense aroma when you open the bottle hints at its bold character.
This oil offers a unique taste experience, setting itself apart from traditional extra virgin olive oil with its infusion of aromatic herbs and spices. A little goes a long way, as its rich flavor is all you need to elevate your dish like grilled vegetables —no need for extra seasoning or spices.
This is how one of the world's finest olive oils is created.
Thassos, with its unique microclimate and fertile soils, provides exceptional conditions for olive cultivation, particularly for the renowned Throumba olives. Every year, during the optimal harvest period, these distinctive olives are carefully hand-picked. The process takes place in select regions of Thassos, where the environment nurtures their exceptional qualities.
Thassos olive oil has been analyzed for its content of health-beneficial compounds, particularly oleocanthal and oleacein. A study conducted by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Department of Pharmacy, on December 22, 2012, evaluated the phenolic profile of Thassos olive oil. The findings indicated that the oleocanthal concentration was significantly higher than the average of Greek olive oil samples (99 mg/kg), while the oleacein concentration was equal to or lower than the average (48 mg/kg).
These compounds are recognized for their anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, cardioprotective, and neuroprotective properties. The elevated levels of oleocanthal in Thassos olive oil contribute to its distinctive pungent taste and are associated with various health benefits.
Harvesting them at the right time ensures their aromatic compounds remain intact, and acidity levels stay low. The result: a premium olive oil that is exquisitely aromatic, rich, and flavorful.
100% Thassos, 100% pure. Exclusively top quality.
What Are Polyphenols and Why Are They Important in Olive Oil?
Polyphenols are natural compounds found in plants, especially in olives. They are a type of antioxidant, which means they help protect our cells from damage caused by harmful molecules called free radicals. This makes them beneficial for health in several ways.
Why Do Polyphenols Matter in Olive Oil?
Health Benefits
- Anti-inflammatory: Polyphenols can reduce inflammation in the body, which is linked to many chronic diseases.
- Heart Health: They help lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and improve blood vessel function.
- Brain Protection: Polyphenols may support brain health and protect against cognitive decline.
- Overall Antioxidant Power: They boost your body’s ability to fight oxidative stress.
Taste and Quality
- Polyphenols contribute to the rich, slightly bitter, and peppery flavors of high-quality olive oil.
- They ensure a longer shelf life for the oil, as they naturally prevent it from going rancid.
Higher in Premium Olive Oils
- Not all olive oils are created equal. The best olive oils, like extra virgin varieties, are made from carefully harvested, high-quality olives and retain the most polyphenols.
- Industrial or overly processed oils often lose these beneficial compounds.
